My love affair with Nerja and this particular area of
Andalucia in Spain
stemmed originally from my business, which involved selling and renting
properties there. I had to visit the area quite a lot, and the more I did, the
more I came to love it. I have tried to convey here, the feelings that I got
when I first visited Nerja and the surrounding areas. The feelings of freedom,
of a strong nation, with a sense of history and pride. Maybe also a feeling of
nostalgia on my part; nostalgia for a Britain
long gone What I found in this part of Spain was something that I felt my
country had lost long ago. I have described here, the delights of simply being
able to drive your car along a coastal road, and to be able to pull over onto a
beach, when and where you want to. To be able to sit in a bar or restaurant for
as long as you want to, without being turfed out by a greedy owner, who just
wants to take more money. To get delicious free tapas with every drink and to
look forward to what your next course will be. I have also done my best to
describe the Spanish customs and food and drink. In fact food and drink play a
very large role in my life, especially when I am in Spain. After all, we cannot live
without either can we? I love Spanish people and their way of life, and have
found during my travels in this area that one of the best ways to meet the
people and get to know them is to eat and drink with them. This book is
dedicated to the pleasure seekers and freedom lovers of this world, please
enjoy it.
